Thank you for supporting Wayfinders scholars!
EVENT DETAILS: Happy Camper Night, Wayfinders’ signature fundraiser now in its twelfth year, ensures that 180 Wayfinders scholars have access to our unique, comprehensive program that combines long-term mentoring, year-round enrichment activities, and attendance at summer camps across North Carolina.
When you attend Happy Camper Night, you will celebrate the successes of our scholars; hear the ways that Wayfinders narrows equity gaps in our community; enjoy casual camp-themed food, wine, and local beer; and jam to excellent music. The event is held partially outdoors under the starry night sky at the Camp Mindy Pavilion, on the campus of the Levine Jewish Community Center.
ABOUT WAYFINDERS: All proceeds from Happy Camper Night benefit our Wayfinders scholars. Wayfinders’ mission is to ignite students’ potential by expanding their confidence, connections, and horizons. We focus on bridging the opportunity gap between our scholars and their higher income peers so they reach their full potential and thrive.
In 2024, Wayfinders will serve 180 under-resourced Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students. Initially, scholars spend summers at nature camps in the mountains. As scholars age, their programming shifts to academic camps on college campuses, leadership development and career exploration opportunities, job-shadowing, and internships to help them transition from middle school to high school to college and career.
Year-round, scholars participate in enrichment programs designed to increase their social capital such as community service, job shadowing, financial planning education, technology workshops, and employer visits. Each student is supported by a dedicated mentor who helps prepare them for camp and guides/supports them throughout their years in our program.
Tickets to Happy Camper Night are $100/person and a portion of each ticket is tax deductible. Corporate and individual sponsorships are also available. Contact Katie Benston, Interim Director of Development, at [email protected] for more information.,
YOUR support of Happy Camper Night in 2024 will expand Wayfinders’ programs and deepen the positive lasting impact made on our scholars.
